The tech

LifeShield has developed over the years a solid and interconnected equipment that will provide customers with the level of security they need despite not offering fancy devices or home automation.

All packages include at least a base, a keypad, a wireless security tablet, a fire safety sensor, a door/window sensor and a motion sensor. As we mentioned before, the base offers 4 different ways of communication, the main one is broadband, LifeShield was born with the idea of offering home security through broadband communication in order to offer quicker response time, nevertheless, the company understood the importance of not relying just on one layer of protection and added into the main hub also cellular (the most secure form of communication in the home security market), text and, for those that still have one at home, landline. The keypad is what will let you control the system and is linked with the monitoring center, it has Crash and Smash protection so if someone breaks in and destroy your keypad, the device will send a signal to the monitoring center and proper measures will be taken.

The fire safety sensor is the evolution of the device we talked before and that is one of the top LifeShield developments over the years. This device works with all the fire and carbon monoxide sensors you might have already installed, when the device “listen” to the siren of those fire and CO sensors, it will trigger an alarm that will inform the monitoring center about a possible harmful situation so they  can call the authorities if needed.

Indoor cameras are also available and it’s cool the fact that you can get video monitoring also with the middle-tier packages the company has to offer.

All the equipment has a sleek design that can be placed almost anywhere in your house without catching the eye big time.

Let’s take a look with more detail into some of the equipment LifeShield has to offer to their clients.

Equipment

LifeShield Security Base (S30)

The S30 is the core of the home security system that LifeShield offers. 4 layers of monitoring that will allow for   total communication with the monitoring center. In case power goes out, it has a built-in 24- hour battery that will keep your system connected.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: N/A

LifeShield Entry Keypad (S30)

This keypad will allow for communication with the monitoring center and for the arming and disarming of your home security system. It is a solid not fancy device that will take care of your security needs.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: N/A

LifeView Security Touchpad

The LifeView Touchpad is developed by Asus and communicates with both the S30 and your router so if the power goes out, the system will still be working within the monitored place. The device allows for arming and disarming.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: N/A

Keychain Remote

The keychain remote included in LifeShield’s packages are pretty standard. Ideal for elderly or people that is not fond of technology, it allows for arming and disarming with just pressing a button. It has a panic button built-in and each key is assigned to a specific user so you will be able to track who’s coming in and out of your home.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $24.99

Fire Safety Sensor

This device will work with your preexistent fire, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. When one of them is triggered, the Fire Safety Sensor developed by LifeShield will “hear” and will transmit a signal to the base in order to communicate with the monitoring sensor that will be able to react to a harmful situation by calling the proper authorities.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $N/A

Slim Door and Window Sensor

Interconnection is key for LifeShield and that’s why they are proud to offer this door/window sensor. They work pretty much like a standard sensor, but allows for an interaction with your indoor camera so if a door/window sensor is triggered, the camera will capture images that you will be able to check through your app.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $14.99

Motion Sensor 80lbs

Calibrated in order to not trigger an alarm when your mascot goes around the house while the system is armed, this motion sensor is ideal for large areas and has a detection radius of 25 feet.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $29.99

Smoke DetectorGlass Break Sensor

This is the standard Glass Break Sensor almost every company offers. Ideal for those spaces with multiple windows as it will detect the sound when one of the windows gets broken and will trigger the alarm.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $39.99

LifeShield Indoor Camera

An HD fixed camera that will transmit live feed, take pictures and provide a more secure environment for your family. You can pair a sensor with your LifeShield Indoor Camera in order to take pictures  when one of them is triggered. It is pretty standard but it will do its job.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $99.99

LifeShield Outdoor Camera

This is the outdoor version of the indoor camera, it has the same features and the same purpose.

Cost if you buy it outside the equipment pack: $149.99

The Tech outside the Equipment

What else does Frontpoint offer?

Interconnectivity is what LifeShield wants to provide and that’s why all their devices offer the possibility of online monitoring through website or app. You can arm and disarm your system thanks to the app developed with the company as well as you can control the cameras and go through the stored videos and pictures. The Langhorne (PA) based company relies on Protection 1 for their monitoring services. An A+ BBB rating, 5 monitoring centers and over 2 million served yearly, Protection 1 is one of the finest alarm monitoring companies in the country. Also other big firms of the home security market like ADT relies on them; Tim Whall is the CEO for both ADT and Protection 1.

The Packs

LifeShield has a variety of packages and we really like this. You will be able to find what suits you best, you can get monitoring with no contract and monitoring with contract:

  • Security Essentials
  • Security Advantage
  • Security Professional

Prices, Contracts and Equipment Packages

When you decide to get a no contract package with LifeShield, you will have to pay the equipment upfront. You have two main options in this case, Security Essentials and Security Advantage. If you decide to sign a 36-month contract, above of the mentioned packages you can also find the Security Professional package that, according to their customer service is not advertised as it cheaper to add cameras to the Security Advantage package instead of purchasing the Security Professional one, in all the cases when you sign a contract the equipment will be provided for free. A $20 fee for equipment shipping will be charged along with an activation fee of $99.

When it comes to the equipment, all depends on how much you are willing to put upfront (when you go for a no contract monitoring) or on the monthly fee you are going to pay. The first camera option comes at $24.99 with no contract and at the moment it will be required to you to pay $299 for the equipment. The price in this case is very competitive since most of the competitors will ask for a highly monthly fee when it comes down to video monitoring. The only thing that you should be aware of is that while every package offers fire and CO protection, if you don’t have fire and CO detectors, you will need to purchase them apart from the package since the only included device is the fire sensor, the piece of equipment that “listen” to the already installed detectors and that we’ve talked about above.

Our review

It’s clear why Frontpoint is currently rated the top company in the security alarm marketplace, top of the edge technology, constant innovation, a great Customer Support that is always available to listen and recommend what is best for your needs without pressuring you to buy something you won’t need and the fact that the founders are still behind curtains directing the whole thing as it was the first day of the company, are key when it comes to offer a great service in this sector. We see no reasons on why, while continuing on this path, Frontpoint can’t be top company in the US for the years to come.

What people say

I have been in a contract with Lifeshield for almost three years. Actually in less than 4 weeks my contract will be up. I was not planning on continuing my service as I do not use it. I have not problem with paying for the last month my equipment is no longer working. When I asked for a credit the customer service girl said they do not offer credits. I asked to speak to a manager as I did not want to waste time calling back to deal with technical support and then customer service to get new equipment set up just to cancel it all in less than a month. The very rude Customer Service manager would not even get on the phone with until after the third or fourth time of me asking. He then only told me there was nothing he could do that my only option was to talk to technical support before he could do anything. I finally wasted my time and spoke with them only for them to tell me I had outdated equipment and it would need to be replaced.

I noticed on Friday July 15, 2016 that my control panel screen was completely blank, but the alarm system was activated. I called customer service to figure out how to disarm the system since my battery was not working and was told to go online to the website and log in from there. I am disappointed that you all do not carry the battery that I need in stock. It makes using my system very aggravating, and nowhere can it be found.

I was told on 1st call we needed a updated unit and would mail one to us. 2nd call said
nothing was sent and the only thing that would work is a landline. 3rd call, I was told they
would check and call back with results from tech dept. explaining why we’re never notified of an alarm at 3:00 am.

I purchased my system 2 years ago and the cellular option was never available. I went to buy the add-on many times to find it out of stock. Recently our neighbor across the street was robbed and I needed to get the cellular because my internet cables are exposed on the side of the house and can be cut very easily or just disconnected by any thief in any case. It took me a while to finally get the upgrade approved and now my mind will be at ease once it is installed that my wife will be protected and not walk into a burglary in progress. I am hoping thieves will run from a house protected like this knowing police will be on scene in minutes.
